Where to stay overnight in bangkok

Hi,

I%26#39;m arriving bangkok at 7:25 pm and leaving the next day at 9:45 am. There doesn%26#39;t seem to be a whole lot of choices in terms on hotels around the airport. What would be the best area to stay in if I want to have a decent dinner and may be take a stroll at the night markets (if time permits)

If you decide to stay in town, check my review %26amp; photos for tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g293916-d597鈥?/a> .

Their Superior Room is around 900 Baht. Beautiful small hotel. A short walk or 3 minute taxi will bring you to Central World Plaza for many great restaurants.

Outside in front of the CWP they sell many things for you to shop. Don%26#39;t bother with the night market. You don%26#39;t have much time to move.

Elaine77,

I would recomend to stay in the Sukumvit Area ....

There are some cheap hotels and booking online usualy gives you a better rate then the walk in rate.

The Ambassador and The Manhatten are suitable if you are a girl on your own. They are older hotels but in a safe area and close to the night market at Lumpini Park, a favorite with the ladies looking for good shopping.

YOu can catch a the airport bus for a cheap ride if you dont want to pay the taxi and tolls. However there is traffic at that time of day and a taxi/toll fees would be best.

If you want a cheap guest house then book with suk11.com opposite the ambassador and quite a unique guest house. Plenty of places to eat all night long.

Enjoy your one night in Bkk,

Landmark Hotel, Sukhumvit Road. Near a Skytrain stop. Lots or restaurants nearby.

You didn%26#39;t mention any dollar figure so this is a good place. (Unless you have a lower dollar/baht figure in mind?)

Google up the Asia Hotel, it is right on a Skytrain stop. In a mostly ';bar free area'; too!

You can either take the meter taxi from the airport (door 7 or 8) or take the Airport Express bus for 150 baht for the Landmark Hotel.

For the Asia Hotel take the meter taxi, toll charge, meter fare and surcharge will be around 330 - 350 baht for the ride.

Good luck.

I haven%26#39;t stayed in the Ambassador since 2005 but I think you should ask for the new wing. Their rooms in the old wing were very old during my stay.

never been there, but I think siam@siam is interesting for its location.

Hi elaine,

I wanted to see the Kohsan Road so stayed at the Viengtai Hotel just off it. Its about 30dollars a night but I was on my own so wanted a good hotel not a hostel / guesthouse. Its right around the corner from so many markets its not funny, bags, cds, dvds, shoes, not so many clothes unless you are very petite in size. I spent the whole evening wandering around on my own and felt very safe. Theres a good choice of thai food or western fast food, subway and burger king etc. Hotel has a pool and has a nice breakfast. Not the best in luxury but 4 one night its fine and good location. It would take a bout 45minutes in a cab from airport but they have hotel taxis which you can book for the morning. Hope you enjoy it I loved it even on my own.

Tracy
