Restaurants near Marina Phuket

Hello,

Only two weeks to go to our honeymoon. I was wondering if anybody could recommend any good restaurants near Marina and also if there are any decent tailors around.

We are also a bit worried about mozzies( Iceland is a mozzie free country). Has anybody that has stayed in a jungle room had problem with them and is it easy to get a good repellent out there?

I just hope the 22 hour trip is going to be worth it since i convinced my wife that we should try Phuket instead of Samos in Greece :)

Regards,

Johann

Hi Johann,

We%26#39;ve just returned from the Marina. several nice restaurants in the street outside the resort but our favourite was Mom Tri%26#39;s Boathouse at Kata Beach which is close by. It%26#39;s on the ocean front and is romantic with great food - (more expensive than most though). We ate at %26#39;On the Rocks%26#39; several times and that was very nice also.

I took insect repellent from Australia with deet in it. You can buy repellent locally but I don%26#39;t know how effective it is. The mozzies weren%26#39;t a problem for us - but I did wear repellent in the evenings.

The place is full of tailors - they will make themselves known to you! We didn%26#39;t have anything made so can%26#39;t recommend anyone.

Finally don%26#39;t miss the baby elephant she visits the reception area in the morning and is outside ';Dinos'; in the evenings - if you give her 20 Baht she%26#39;ll give it the trainer who swaps it for bananas which you can feed to her. She likes to pose for photos. Very cute.

Back again! If you decided to eat at Mom Tris make sure you book so you can have a table outside by the water. It%26#39;s a large busy restaurant. If we%26#39;d had more time we would have also booked into a restaurant that is near to Mom Tris on the water - think it%26#39;s infront of the Kata Beach Resort. It%26#39;s to the right of Mom Tris when you face the ocean by a set of stairs that leads down to the beach. It looks to be a mix of bar and outdoor eating. Take a walk around - you%26#39;ll soon decide what appeals to you and what doesn%26#39;t.

Hi Johann,

We were at the Marina in a Jungle room in May and it is just beautiful.

We had no problems with mozzies but I bought repellant wiyh deet from the little general store connected to the Marina.

Also we were careful not too leave the door open in the evenings.

Have a wonderful honeymoon I am sure you will love the Marina.

By the way, let them know it%26#39;s your honeymoon, they may do something special for you.

Cheers Lindy.

Hi we were at the Marina Phuket in April, there are lots of restaurants to choose from. Turn left as you leave, couple of restaurants past the shops at the right of Karon Beach resort is The Ruam Thep Inn . If you walk down the hill towards Karon Circle, cross the road and walk past the stadium, there are some beach restaurants all set up next to each other, menus out the front, very casual, try Hello Hello and My Best friend. If you turn right out the front of MP, Dino';s is next door, walk down that hill there are more to choose from on either side of the rd. At the bottom of this hill, turn left down Thai Na Rd and you will come across a whole heap more inc ';Charlies'; (this is actually Kata now). Cross the road from MP and there are some to choose from, there was a nice cafe (can%26#39;t remember the name though). There are more a bit further left and right, but you might want to get transport back as it gets hot walking up and down hill.

Congratulations, have a lovely honeymoon.

Hi Johann

The restaurants as mentioned in the above posts are great. For a tailor I can highly recommend one directly outside the Marina Cottages entrance. Opposite and a little to the left. It is the biggest tailor shop in that stretch of road. Apologies I have forgotten their name.

Happy Honeymoon!

Chantal
