Hi I am taking several flights with air asia next month, does anybody have any tips for me, or any info that might be helpful?
Also, has anyone tried express boarding?
Also, ive just read your only allowed 15kg baggage, how strict are they with this???!
Air Asia- any tips??
We used Air Asia about 5 or 6 times on our trip and they were very strict with the 15Kg but only in Thailand bizarrely. They charged about an extra 拢5 for two bags and ours weighed not much over at 17kg. It%26#39;s a really stingy weight limit but if like us you got your flights very cheap - it doesn%26#39;t make much difference, it%26#39;s just a bit annoying having to go to a different desk to pay the excess then go back to drop them off at checkin.
Air Asia is a bit Ryan Air in it%26#39;s boarding - they don%26#39;t allocate seats so it can be a bit of a scrum. We just waited calmly, got on the back as we could do on every flight, sat at the back where it was emptier and again, got off the back which was very civilised.
Also - see you%26#39;re from Liverpool. You may get a bit annoyed with them constantly bleating on about their support for Man Utd - indeed they are over there at the moment on an Air Asia sponsored tour. However, if you%26#39;re a fan or if you don%26#39;t follow football, you won%26#39;t be bothered.
Eat before you get on if possible - the food is kind of Easy Jet/Ryan Air too - Pot Noodles, thin sarnies, that kind of thing. I%26#39;m not sure if they allow food on the plane - I doubt it.
Air Asia- any tips??
thanks for the help. How much hand luggage to they allow on air asia? so did you pay 拢5 for the extra 2 kg?!
also, how long before the flight do you have to check in to be reasonable?
thanks
btw, im an Arsenal fan!
hi Thegaddabouts
its not only in thailand that they are strict , i went over by not even 2 kg in kuala lumpur and i was charged with a hefty fee ....i couldnt believe it ....... but with what you save on fares i guess it is still worth it .
kiddah_1,
i wouldnt worry about the express boarding , just line up early. even though , this still doesnt garauntee a seat in the front as last 2 times i have boarded , they sent 1/2 through the front door and 1/2 through the back door to board the plane.
cheers

thanks!! are you allowed any hand luggage?
also, i would like to get to airport as close to flying time as possible, can you arrive 1 hour before boarding?
We were over by 5 kgs when we flew Air Asia... the guy just winked at me and didnt say anything to the guy processing the booking! Guess I got lucky!
Air Asia always run late so just bear that in mind and expect a delay... that way if its not delayed you can be pleasantly surprised....
We didnt experience a mad rush getting on the plane and were to the back of the line.. we still managed to find plenty of seats that were together .. no big deal. I thought the flights were good and smooth.... takeoff and landings were good (this is important as I hate flying!!!!)
All up a great experience for a great price....
yes a normal size cabin bag is allowed .
i think if you are flying internationally it is 2 hours prior , 1 hr internally .....it should tell you on your tickets when you print them out .

i must have been so lucky , i haven%26#39;t had a flight run late yet !
i guess it all depends on which flight , which person you end up getting as to how things go .....lol

My wife and flew from Bangkok to Phuket and we were over weight (the bags not us) so paid the extra,.I think it was 800 baht On our return from Phuket we had a bit of extra luggage,(shopping etc)
and were allowed on board without the excess luggage payment - I guess that%26#39;s just Thailand.
But on the whole I find Air Asia very good for the price and reliablity, I know they have their moments, but what airline doesn%26#39;t
Before you book check the the Air Asie home page for free flight%26#39;s
We were in Thailand last year and got some cracking deals, we actually flew fron Bkk t0 Chaing Mai for Just the Airport tax.

Regarding AirAsia and their 15kg luggage limit. This will be per person but if you are a couple flying with just one case weighing say 23 kg, will this be OK and not incur a charge?
Be aware there is a 7 kg limit for cabin bags. Sometimes they will check and sometimes not. Out of three trips in April the only place that checked was at Krabi - my bag was 10kg but the girl said it was ok and let me go with no charge.
