Hi,
We were planning on staying at Kanok Buri in August. It seems to be a place that doesn%26#39;t get many reviews but generally they are all positive except for a scathing review posted recently.
Has anyone else stayed at this resort and what were your impressions? We were keen on staying here but the recent review has given us second thoughts... Any opinions would be helpful.
Thanks

Kanok Buri
We have the same dilemma too. We are going there in 2 weeks so I guess it%26#39;s quite late to re-consider and waste more time to search again for another perfect place.
I will let you know once I%26#39;m back from Ko Samui. However, if any other members know anything about Kanok Buri, please let me know more to have some reassurance. :)
Thanks a lot

Dear Evorah:
I am in the same boat as JTP. We are scheduled to stay at the Kanok Buri resort in July and are a bit anxious as a result of the recent review as well.
Any input or follow-up would be super appreciated!
Thank you so much.

Hi,
I hope it%26#39;s not too late to give you guys the feedback you%26#39;re looking for. Even if you%26#39;re reading this while in Koh Samui, at least go to Kanok Buri for a sunset dinner to enjoy the view and setting. By the way Kanok Buri means means the way the hands go palm to palm in a Thai greeting. You%26#39;ll see what I mean when you get there.
I stayed at Kanok Buri in January and I loved it so much, the experience was very positive. Best hotel I%26#39;ve ever been to, and I%26#39;ve been to nice hotels and cruises in 10 different countries! Kanok Buri is not your typical Hilton or Hyatt, with cookie cutter rooms and overpriced everything. Kanok Buri is local, authentic, exotic, luxurious resort at a good price. It%26#39;s simply heaven on earth!
The Location:
It%26#39;s located on the West side of the island so you%26#39;re guaranteed a beautiful sunset, especially if you are looking for a romantic getaway that offers a beautiful, clean, sandy beach that you can actually swim in (unlike the ones on the East side of the island with big waves that does not feel safe), perfect for some wading or long walk on the beach.
The Setting:
The theme here is romantic, even if that%26#39;s not what you%26#39;re looking for, you%26#39;ll love what they%26#39;ve done with the place. Their attention to details is obvious.
Almost all rooms back onto the garden, which is simply gorgeous and in very good shape thanks to the attentive gardener who was pruning and taking care of all the exotic plants almost daily when I was there.
The Rooms:
Very clean, nicely decorated. Also they are ';Green'; thanks to the key activated power system. Lights and A/C are turned off within 5 minutes after the key is out of the holder when you leave the room. More hotels should adapt to that concept!
Nicely decorated with local art and there%26#39;s a fresh bowl of local exotic fruit upon your arrival. It gives you a sample of what you%26#39;ll find in the market in town (Nathon - pronounced ';Na - Ton';). Of course there%26#39;s bottled water, coffee, and tea. The washroom is well lit with nice shower stall, air dryer, toothbrushes and other toiletries. Our room had a jaccuzzi on the balcony, now that%26#39;s an idea that I can get onboard with! Even when it rained, we were able to lounge on the balcony and experience the extoic rain while reading or soaking in the tub. Just awesome!
There%26#39;s a safe in every room, it%26#39;s certainly provided the peace of mind that we were looking for while travelling.
The Food:
EXCELLENT! Best Thai food I%26#39;ve had, their chef is truly a treasure and I miss her cooking! Be sure to try the Pineapple fried rice and many other dishes they offer.
Service:
Courteous! There%26#39;s a slight language barrier with some staff, but almost all of them understood our questions and were very helpful. It worked out very well as we were able to get these from the staff: local maps (free), motorbike rental (safer than trying to rent from other places in town that we%26#39;ve been warned about before we got there), ocean fishing trip. Very friendly people and helpful.
I can really go on and on about this place, maybe if you have specific questions I can try to answer them to help you choose.
To be completely objective here, other hotels might be cheaper, but the people we met there that stayed at other places all told us how they wish they stayed at Kanok Buri, there was one couple that walked the beach every night and they always stopped at the hotel%26#39;s ';backyard'; patio and soak in the settings.
This hotel scored 10/10 from me for sure! I highly recommend staying at Kanok Buri.
Best of luck and I hope you choose this place!
Connie
Hi,
I will be having my honeymoon there in October. I have been speaking to David, and here Connie also adds on to the positive reviews about the resort.
There was only one report which was negative, and even then I feel it%26#39;s mostly out of bad luck and pettiness that the review became negative.
I personally have not seen the palce but I am looking forward to my visit there. Ohh by the way ... I booked via www.atsiam.com and found better rates that way.
Rev-Boy
We%26#39;ll be there for our Honeymoon from end October until mid-November.
We%26#39;ve read plenty of reviews and have bit the bullet on it... it just reads so well..
Let us know how your trip goes.
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
Looks like we will be around during the same time :) See ya then, we%26#39;ll see if our experiences are the same and as good.
By the way, mind me asking how%26#39;s ur travel arrangements to Koh Samui island, just the airline and transfers ? I%26#39;m kinda having a hard time getting options for flying there direct. I prefer not to go to Surat Thani and take a bus and ferry to reach the island but hit the island by air right on.
I%26#39;m flying from Kuala Lumpur, so at current my plans are AirAsia www.airasia.com.my from KUL to PEN (Penang island), and then FireFly, www.fireflyz.com.my from PEN to USM (Koh Samui). The sad thing is even up till now, FireFly has not opened bookings for the travel dates I want.
Having said that, travel ideas from anyone would be appreciated.
regards,
Kenny

So here we are juggling the flight plans.
