BKK airport into Sukhumvit Road?

How much should you pay %26amp; where would you get the cab from........

thanks in advance!!

BKK airport into Sukhumvit Road?

My tip is to avoid all the hustle and bustle of arrivals and ahead for departures. Basically as you get into the arrival hall, look for the elavators and go to floor 4 (I think) up to departures.

Head out of the building and you should see taxis dropping off passengers and just jump into one of them. Saves having to go through all the touts etc at arrivals and you usually get a taxi much quicker.

Always remember to get a meter taxi (green/yellow) and make sure the driver turns the meter on. If he doesn%26#39;t then tell him ';Mai pen rai'; and find another taxi.

depending on traffic, shouldn%26#39;t take you more than 30-45 mins, longer if busier and you should pay in the region of 150-200baht tops.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest if this is your first trip that as you come out of customs you go to the first floor and get one of the taxi meters in the Taxi rank.

These taxis are controlled by the airport and you have to pay a 50 Baht tax.

For this you get a guaranteed taxi that will use the meter and take you to the hotel of your choice. You are given a receipt for the tax with the taxi number which you can use if you have a complaint.

DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OFFERS OF ';TAXI SIR'; these are the so called ';airport Taxi'; but they are limo%26#39;s that will charge you 600 up Baht + tolls [no meter].

Cost to lower Sukhumvit around 200 Baht + tolls + the 50 Baht tax.

Hello :

Do not accept any up sell Taxi in the arrival hall . These guys

are trying to sell 1000 baht Taxi ride. I was there last May, 2007

just told them I have a Thai girl friend waiting for me in the parking

lot and they turned me loose. Walk out the arrival and take a ticket

50baht at the desk for your Taxi to hotel is the best bet here.

It was cost me only 220baht for a ride to lower Sukhumvit .

And I shall be back Bangkok later this year.

Enjoy your trip,

thanks for all of your help!!

I agree with tratnguyen1.

About who call you';Taxi Sir'; they %26#39;re not taxi meter, they are limousine transfer service. So,they will charge more expensive than taxi meter.

HI

Sonchai

the last time I tried to get taxi at departure area the police ran me off

I went up to taxi as he was dropping off I was negotaiting price when the security officer came up shut the door and told me to leave said no get taxi here.

so go down to taxi area wait in que no problem you tell the person at the desk where you want to go they write it on piece of paper then they give it to taxi so he knows where to go.

Hi Sawadee,

Never heard or seen that before, I have done it no end of times. In Don Muang and Survarnabhumi, In fact I have had one of the whistle happy sec guys help me chuck my luggage in to the boot .

Maybe this guy was just having a bad day.

Can I ask did you try to get a taxi right out side or did you walk across the road?

Hello travelers:

An alternative for Taxi is the bus from airport to city central.

Cost is 150baht to lower Sukhumvit road.

Enjoy your trip,

If you arrive before 2315/1115 PM you have a couple other choices.

Besides the taxi, there is an Airport Express bus that leaves from the same area near the taxi sign up desk. There are two desks for the Airport Express bus, one inside near door 8 and the other at the curb almost in front of the bus. Price is 150 baht and the ride may take 1.5 hours because of traffic (twice as long as a meter taxi.) Airport Express bus usually stops running around 1115 PM!

Also, you can take the FREE shuttle bus to the new bus station. At the bus station you can take a bus into town for 35 baht (other cities and towns also available!) The ride is ';stop and go'; for dropping off passengers and may take 1.5 hours in traffic to get close enough to take a cheap meter taxi to your hotel. Note: There used to be bus #552 that went to Sukhumvit Road, only as far as the first Skytrain stop at Oh Nut. Not sure if this bus still runs now. If this bus still runs then you can use the Skytrain but only if you arrive during the day or early evening.

Good luck.

Just a further note that if you plan to be in bangkok, the sky train is nearly always teh best way to travel around. No problem about traffic and time!
