weather and things to do for the 20' somethings!?

weather and things to do for the 20' somethings!?

yes of course my dear ... two seasons wet and dry.....its a lottery though...I have been plenty of times in rainy season and had 4-5 days lovely, hot with some cloud. Always hot. Then I have been in early October and it rained all day every day. Its a lottery. You could be fine ...but then sometimes a monsoon trough will drift in and it will get black and stormy. Its cheaper of course. Hotels can be a third or a half price.

weather and things to do for the 20' somethings!?

Hi there

My partner and I went to Krabi and stayed at the Thai Village for 11 nights last October. It gets quite a few varying reviews on here, but we found it to be a good base for Ao Nang and beyond. The hotel itself is ok - we had a nice, spacious room and didn%26#39;t find any dubious smells to be a problem, as some have reported, but we were up on the top (third I think) floor and overlooking the gardens. The pool area was fine and we had a few bites to eat by the pool, which were more than adequate, if a little more pricy than in the resort, which you expect really. While we didn%26#39;t eat in the restaurant in the evening (too much choice in the resort!), we ventured down for breakfast a couple of times and it was ok, but nothing special and as we aren%26#39;t great morning people anyway, we didn%26#39;t wrestle with our conscience about missing it most days!

We found Ao Nang good for restaurants and bars, but as some have reported, the beach is prety average. However, it does provide a good gateway to go to some great beaches - for a few baht, you can take a longtail boat to Phra-Nang and Railey in a few minutes and they are lovely. For about 1300 baht we hired a longtail for most of the day (I am sure other people will say we were ripped off, but it%26#39;s less than £20 and he was good to us!) to go to Poda and Chicken Islands, which were well worth the visit.

As for weather, it can be a bit hit and miss. It%26#39;s always hot, as the other reviewer mentioned, but while we were there, we found it would rain for an hour or so in the afternoon and after that would generally be fine, but on the odd day the rain continued into the evening.

In short, we had a great time in Krabi, so much so that we are spending a week of our honeymoon there in September/ October this year, although we are staying in a couple of different hotels.

I don%26#39;t want to waffle on anymore, but if you want to ask me any questions, by all means, let me know!
