Ideas for a RESTAURANT with a SEA VIEW - please...

My same friends as in the HOTEL post - sorry to be a bother! Anyway they are from Arizona - hot and dry - and want water water water . . .

They are going to stay in the Patong, Karon or Kata area - and want suggestions on great places to eat - with a VIEW of the sea and/or right on the beach.

Upscale and cheap, Western, Eastern, MEasten or Thai - all suggestions are welcome.

Suggestions, recommendations and reviews 鈥?happily accepted!

Ideas for a RESTAURANT with a SEA VIEW - please...

Hi Ted,

You posted this for me about 18 months ago and we have been there 3 times and taken two lots of friends. We thought it was great. Last time we ere there was Sept last year though.

';Try Pan Yaah, just a couple kilometers north of Patong on the coast road - past Kalim - good good very nice view.

Big green sign - across the street from Villa Santi - get there by 5:30 so you can get seats right at the edge of the restaurant - great view of Patong and the bay. Also, if you have them, take binoculars - great for looking at the yachts that anchor in the bay.';

Ted, What about Kru Surit Floating Restaurant at Koh Maphrao, they would be surrounded by water and only a short ride from Patong, then a free longtail boat over %26amp; back to restaurant. (Its something different from the normal type restaurants).

P%26gt;S Also almost forgot my favorite cheap eat - best view of Kata.

Small View

Don%26#39;t know whether it is still there but On the Rocks overlooking the end of Karon Beach was wonderful. Had to book early to get a table by the rail overlooking the rocks and the ocean.

Thanks! Pan Yaah - is on my list - but I am not familiar with Small View. Is it the place up on the high road with a view of all of Kata Noi Beach? Sits on the cliff overlooking the KataThani?

Also - how do you get to Kru Surit Floating Restaurant at Koh Maphrao? Or, at least, how do you get to the long boat? Is this the area just north of SuperCheap - where several restaurants are?

Great Ideas - Keep them coming please!

Arandora,

Sorry to display my ignorance - but that is why I am asking . . .

Is ';On the Rocks'; down on the south end of Karon Beach - or the north end coming from Patong?

I%26#39;m going to check all these places out when my friends arrive (or before!) - food is MY hobby!

Ted, Its only a few minutes drive from Phuket Town at Laem Hin port, Laem Hin Seafood restaurant (on the water) is there (recommended on Jamies pages) walk past that restaurant and theres the longtails to take people to floating restaurants. Theres a couple there. Great fresh food, not expensive and no tourists.

Cathy

Ted,

On the Rocks is ';A grottolike seafood-and-barbecue restaurant carved into the southernmost rocks of Karon Beach (it%26#39;s part of the Marina Phuket Resort),';

Hi Ted

Here is a link to a review on ';On the Rocks'; I discovered when searching for restaurants in the Kata area for my trip in November this year.
