getting around thailand

hi, we are going to thailand in september starting with bangkok for a couple of nights. we want to then go on to ko samui, what are the cheapest airlines from bangkok to ko samui? and are they easy enough to book?

also we wouldnt mind going to krabi and phi phi. what would be the easiest way to get here from ko samui?

any advice would be great

Hi,

OK, the only airline that flies in to Samui is Bangkok Airways www.bangkokair.com. Very easy to use their site never had a problem booking a flight months in advance from UK or night before in Thailand. Great airline too.

I know that Bangkok Air used to fly Samui to Krabi but they have suspended this sometime last year. No other airlines have this route. You can however fly from Samui to Phuket and make your way to Koh Phi Phi and Krabi from there. Or you could get a VIP bus to Krabi via the ferry. Takes about 4/5 hours.

You could fly to phuket from samui but if you wanted to stay in the Ao Nang area of Krabi it will still take an 2 hours to get there from Phuket Airport.

Overland will take a while has you have to get on the ferry and then drive (I think) 300 kms to Krabi.

Whichever way you choose it will involve at least half day travelling!
