Best Markets overall

Hi,

going to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi, Phuket, Phuket Town and Pattaya. Anyone got thoughts on what markets are going to be best to shop at.....

Not sure for what,, but definetely clothes, homeware stuff like cushion covers and nice stuff for the house. I believe we are better off buying DVD%26#39;s in Phuket (around 60bt) but thought other trip advisors might have some suggestions on the other stuff.

Thanks

Karin

If you are going to buy ';genera stuff l'; ie cushion covers, homewares etc, my recommendation is to but it whereever you are last - you don%26#39;t want to be carting that stuff everywhere with you.

Having said that , you can find nice one off things as you travel, buy that as you see it, the cushion covers etc you can get anywhere.

We found Chiang Mai had the best one off type stuff

Markets

Bangkok

Chatachuk weekend market.

Largest market in the world. Worth checking out for the variety. Barter. I haven%26#39;t found it super cheap though as they know they get lots of tourists and its well promoted.

Sum Lum Night Bazaar.

Has some nice stuff and I have got stuff there chaeper than Sum Lum. Has original small designers where you will pick up clothes u won%26#39;t see elsewhere. Still not exi.

Chiang Mai

Night Market

You%26#39;ll find lots of stuff here cheaper than Bangkok. What u pay depends on your bargaining skills. Outside of CM up north u may get things cheaper still- Chiang Rai.

MaeSai

for jewellery. Very cheap up north and across bridge in Burma.

Except for DVD%26#39;s and pearls Phuket is dearer.

Enjoy the shopping.

chok dee (good luck)

My favourite shopping for that kind of stuff was Suan Lum Night Bazaar in Bangkok and definately Chiang Mai.... the night markets and the Sunday markets....

OTop in Patong was pretty good for DVDs and boys tshirts
