How to buy a bar

Go to www.ThaiVisa.com and register for Forum there. Lots of ex-pats and guys/gals with experience of opening businesses in LOS. And, of course, information on visa requirements.

Yes, you could also go to Sunbelt in Bangkok. They have many.

You must remember that a lot of Farangs do this easy route to have a %26#39;business%26#39; in Thailand, however few of them make a long-term success of it.

Not enough customers to make a profit.

We have a saying here; to make a small furtune in Thailand, you must come in with a big one!

DON%26#39;T DO IT! , that%26#39;s my advice from someone who has allready been down this road, came to Thailand 6 years ago and started off with a bar in South Pattaya, you will only make money for 2 or 3 months at the most in a year, come low season when it%26#39;s raining you will be sitting at the bar night after night with no customers, and also though it is possible, it is not easy to obtain a work permit for actually serving drinks in your bar, why don%26#39;t you book a trip and go to Samui during low season and see what you will be letting yourself in for, I should also add I have met several good guy%26#39;s who came here with the same dream over the last few years and the only ones who are still making a go of it spend 5-6 months of the year during low season back on the building sites in the UK topping up their income whilst the Thai girlfriend is running the bar.

If i were you, i would heed the advice given. It is POSSIBLE to be succesful, but the chance is very, VERY small. And I dont think it is worth the risk hoping that you will be that lucky 1 in 100.

Hello :

I heard that Thailand laws don%26#39;t even allow a Non citizen

to own a real property let alone having business .

However, Thailand is a wonderful country to visit in a short

stay . IMHO, just keep the monies invest in the USA. and

don%26#39;t have to be worry losing the whole inital capital investments.

HI

send me your money and I will do it for you

I also have a great deal on the london tower if you are interested.

LOL

Move to the area first live off of savings for a couple of years

keep low profile don%26#39;t flash lots of money

learn about the area then start slowly. then you can make informed discision.

so many falangs sell out back home blow all their money in two yr%26#39;s then go crawling back home with the tails between their legs broke.

Hello :

Here is the only alternate way to own a bar in Thailand.

You can buy a business under a Thai%26#39;s wife or Girl friends.

That means you must place trust 100% to your Thai%26#39;s frriend

since you are not a legal owner of anything in here.

just think it is a gift then you will be more have Peace in mind.

Hi Lafs, as I understand it, a foreigner cannot own any property or business outright. They can only take a 49% share in a business. The other 51% being Thai owned. This imeadiately means that you have to have a massive leap in faith in your business partners. Secondly I think the seasonal issue is relevant, BUT, probably more so main land Thai. Kho Samui is a very popular place, so you may do better there. The other issue to contend with is the visa, you would be well advised to take plenty of advise on this subject. I am told iadvise varies wildly depending who you talk to.

But hey ,,,,,, you must do what ever it is that you believe in.

Good luck mate, be positive, but do loads of research.

Dave

p.s. if you do it, drop me an email and I%26#39;ll pop in for a beer or two.

Hello:

The only bar that I like to buy is the one in lower Sukhumvit road.

Now, you are operating in the heavy concentrated tourist area

with monies to spend.

hey lafs,

unless you are an alcoholic or you want to be one dont do it,

too much competition, and youll have seen the tourists- they still complain about prices wherever they drink!

try ';the next thailand'; before its too late.
