Where to be for Xmas and New Year in Thailand

Hello,

Myself and my boyfriend are leaving to go on a travelling adventure for 8 months on the 1st October. Our first stop is going to be India, and we fly out of there to Singapore mid November. We%26#39;re going to be working out way up and flying out of Hanoi in Febuary. But we%26#39;re unsure of where to stay and what to do for Xmas and New Years in Thailand. We%26#39;ve been told that we need to book our accomadation now, as any middle range hotels will all be snapped up. Please can anyone offer us advise on where to stay, and where will have the best nightlife and things to do over the Xmas period.

Many Thanks in advance Becky x

That is a busy period all over the country, with lots of things to do.

If you%26#39;re looking for nightlife, I would recommend Bangkok, Pattaya, Chaweng on Samui of Patong on Phuket.

Where to be for Xmas and New Year in Thailand

If you go to Phuket, I%26#39;d recommend the Kata Beach Resort. They, as most of the hotels have Christmas and New Year%26#39;s celebrations. Bear in mind that most places include those functions as compulsory attendance, charging you for it.

We go to the Kata Beach Resort for New Year%26#39;s Eve. It%26#39;s a lot of fun. They have the biggest buffet filled with all kinds of international foods which is constantly refilled, some of the foods are cooked in front of you. There are fruit carving demonstrations, traditional dancers and band from Bangkok that really gets the crowd going. It%26#39;s all around the pool area and there would be about 600 people there, all seated.

The Gecko bar in Bophut, Samui for New Year can%26#39;t be beaten. Spent last new year there and it was one of the best I%26#39;ve ever had - if you;re into dancing until the wee hours that is!

Anywhere is great for xmas as the Thai%26#39;s love it. You%26#39;ll have people wishing you merry christmas everywhere you go. Ko Chang on the Eastern gulf is a great place. Its still off the beaten track so not too touristy.

As for getting accommodation, if you book now you%26#39;ll be ok. However, later in the year the hotels will tell you they%26#39;re fully booked. However, they always keep rooms available for off the street custom. I flew to thailand for weeks on the 22nd December last year with a room booked until boxing day. I had no problem getting rooms on, Koh Chang, Samui or Koh Phangan. Phi Phi was a different story however. I definitely wouldn;t recommend going unless you%26#39;ve got somewhere booked. When the boat arrives carnage ensues as everybody rushes to get rooms. We had to move everynight as all the rooms were booked. Still worth a visit though.

Hope this helps

Thanks for all the advise it%26#39;s been very helpful.x
