not a honeymoon

can we get suggestions for a resort or villa that feels like its away from the busy hub with good pool, near beach and spa facilities but near enough to get to main shops/restaurants/nightlife . Sila Evason and Tongsai cottages a bit out of price range. Discerning singles - first visit to Koh Samui.

not a honeymoon

I would recommend Saboey Resort as it%26#39;s only 10 mins away from Chaweng for the shops, nightlife etc but has all the things you%26#39;re looking for and you feel like you%26#39;re in your own little oasis away from all the hustle and bustle at the same time. Can still get a little piece of luxury without paying the same prices as the big names.

not a honeymoon

thanks Babs76. Read a lot of positive reviews about Saboey Resort and Villas. Does anyone know how far it is to the Chaweng restaurant/shop area ? am guessing its a cab ride . Does this area get affected any more or less than other parts during monsoon season?

Samui doesn`t really have a monsoon season more a wet season usually at it`s worst mid October to late December.I don`t think the Big Buddha area would be any worse off than other parts of Samui if you had days of rain on end which can happen in the said period all though last years wet season wasn`t as bad as others.

Saboey would be around 15 -20 mins to Chaweng in a taxi. The taxi will say metered but that`s cr*p they won`t turn the meter on.Cost would be about 300 baht to Chaweng but thats just a guide you need to agree on a price before you get in.Songtaews circle the island 24/7 bit slower but cheaper %26amp; you need to ask how much before you get on.The prices can vary if you are coming back late at night say early hours.

Saboey has some very good reviews on this site but is a bit 50/50 on the sawadee site.

I`m not sure really when you plan to visit or your budget but maybe have a look at Buri Rasa www.burirasa.com at the southern end of Chaweng.Very nice, peaceful %26amp; you won`t have any transport concerns.

Hope this helps
