Try kunta at www.sailing-in-samui.com. Based at Chong meon. German fella speaks good English.

Had a great day out with him on his Macgregor monohull. Left Chongmeon for Koh Phangan at 10am took 2 hrs of sailing to a liitle secluded bay where we swam and snorkelled for an hour. Then had lunch (which was included) before sailing back to Koh Samui, getting back by 16:30.

Cost 2000baht per person.

Thanks for reply might just give this a go.

There are quite a few excursion companies dotted around the island so i would ask about the island tour of samui by boat (inc. lunch and stops for snorkelling) and also Ang Thong marine park (inc. lunch, snorkelling and kayaking, travel by speedboat - best way as its quicker than taking a normal boat) - we have done both these trips and they were one of the highlights of our stay. I have heard good things about trips to Koh Tao which is supposed to be great for snorkelling also.

any idea what a private trip to Ang Thong might cost or for that matter who might offer it? I did see sometime back some of the bigger boats, obviously not worth it, but maybe there is something else smaller we can take (speed boat though)?? thanks

Hi,

I certainly don%26#39;t recommend the %26#39;Boat Tour around Koh Samui%26#39; - the snorkeling place is horrible no fish and murky water. You go to Ko Tan Island for an ordinary lunch to %26#39;relax and sightsee%26#39; where you can%26#39;t swim or walk along the beach and are stuck there for ages along with the flying biting insects and wild pigs. They say that you visit %26#39;The Swallows Nest Island%26#39; where infact you go past it on the boat!

Avoid this tour - not much fun!

Chaimdan,

From the research I%26#39;ve done, the public boat tour to ang thong should run you around 2200 baht per person. includes tranfer from hotel to pier...equipment...lunch...and ride back :)

Good luck with your trip,

ben
