Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai by car

We will soon be travelling by car from CR to CM. We are told that we will be going by the ';Scenic'; roue.

Has anyone any suggestions as to what to stop and see on the way? This is a private transfer so we can stop where we want.

This is hill/jungle country.

It%26#39;s difficult to say.

Obviously there are scenic points on the road, but most of the tours will take side roads you would never know about and dissappear off down themto places you wouldn%26#39;t find onyour own.

Suggest you get a good map.

If you are taking the scenic route there are a host of national parks between Mai and Rai. Check www.dnp.go.th for info about each one. this is the official web site. Each park will offer different things to do and see. there are of course the usual Wats you can visit on the way. also some villages specialise in certain handicraft products. Check OTOP website to see what%26#39;s in the area.
