what to pack

Hi Ceri.

Hubby and I are going to Phuket on 5th August and hey......only 8 more sleeps to go.

First timers, like you. I have put out clothes, then put em away again so many times its not funny.

I do believe that buying ladies clothing if you are a size 14 or up is rather difficult, due to the fact that they seem to cater for the %26#39;little people%26#39;. Maybe someone else could enlighten me about that.....

I am taking shorts and singlet tops, 1 skirt and three quarter pants.

1 travelling umbrella and of course the Bushmans Insect Repellent that everyone on here swears by. Cost me a fortune here in NZ though........ $25 so hope its worth it.

Buy all your other sundries over there.

Who knows, perhaps we might catch up for a drink.

See you there

Regards

Bev

Hi,

I agree with travelling light. You will need usual beach clothes swim gear plus sarongs shorts and t shirts or singlet vests. For evening wear cropped trousers with nice tops perhaps a dress if you want to dine out at a special place and a couple of skirts. Remember it is very hot and can be quite humid you will not need jackets ect. Also they have great tailors my hubby had 2 pairs of silk trousers made plus 5 silk shirts top quality fof 拢100. You will find a lot of people come to phuket to have clothes made , and also to buy from the shops rthat is why they come with hand luggage and go home with a case. Also to get your clothes laundered your talking peanuts. But i would take a small brolly with you in your luggage. If it does rain it will not spoil anything for you. Have fun and enjoy.

Hi Ceri,if you are anything like me(i hate packing)but i can pack for England,so my hubby tells me.Things are in and out of my case right up to the last minute, but mainly it is 2dresses,t-shirts,3/4 pants, normal stuff.Dont worry about the rain, went to Hua Hin last year,it rained a couple of times, mainly at night,so you just run from one bar to the next, lol. Some of the hotels have brollys in the room for you to use.

We are going to be in Phuket from the 4th of august, staying at the Seaview Patong, not long now.

As Bev says, there are millions of us meeting up for drinks, why not join us.See you out there perhaps.

Chris.

Same here we are going on the 1st August will be in Phuket on the 5th August. Are you taking thai bhat ? I was recommended today to take US dollars just wondered what you were going to do?

Why take $US? You will pay commision changing 拢s to $ in Thailand and value of $ versus baht is dropping in Thailand. Take 拢 cash plus use a Debit Card to draw cash from ATMs (Nationwide Flex Account is best but you still get a better rate of exchange over there than in UK) and use a credit card only for large purchses. Use cash otherwise.

Hi Ceri

If you are larger than a size 14 take a decent amount of clothing as they are small sizes only for women. Hubby should be fine as all mens clothes go up to very large sizes. Talk hubby into not taking too much because then you can fill his suitcase up with all the things that you buy.

I would take just enough toiletrys to last you, and then leave whatever is left there so you dont have to cart half empty bottles home. You will need insect repellant with DEET in it and just to be on the safe side take something for an upset tummy just in case you may need it. I would take my own sunscreen as its not that cheap over there.

Murf

HI me and my wife are in Phuket now (wife having hair done hence me on internet) we packed t-shirts, shorts, sandals, swimwear, shirts, dresses.

My wife is size 14 and have just got back from shopping and had no trouble getting some t-shirts from the local market huts.

We are staying at Seaview hotel and it%26#39;s nice, really good welcome and staff speak very good english. Check out local phrases on internet for hello, thankyou e.t.c.. No be put off by the amount of people that will approach you when walking around as once you learn to be polite and simple say no thankyou they give up.

You will enjoy it we leave on the 8th Aug so may catch you around.

Pack light,

As others have said unless your over size 14 clothes are cheap enough to buy.

We take 3 changes of old clothes and throw them away after use, saves on washing in the 1st week, then we buy clothes for the rest of the trip, mind you its check to get your washing done over there for a few Baht per Kilo.

Cheers, Pete.
