Romantic ideas sought for proposal in Ko Samui / Ko Phangan

Hi all,

going to thailand soon, staying in koh phangan for a week and then koh samui for another week.

I am planning to propose to my Girlfriend while we are there.

Im just looking for suggestions for nice romantic places on either island that might be nice for the proposal, some kind of special place that one of you may have been to.

One idea would be to hire a boat for the day or half day and get them to take you to a deserted beach.

Or go for an elephant ride and don%26#39;t let her get off until she says yes.

Or just walk on an empty beach at sunset.

On Samui there is a place on top of the mountains called the Jungle Club. It%26#39;s just outside of Chaweng. The views are spectacular.

How about taking a day trip over to the Ang Thong National Marine Park off Samui. It is really beautiful, there is a hike up to a look out point across the whole archipaleago or you could wait til you see the lake in the centre and pop the question there.

I would recommend Choeng Mon beach, Quite alot of honey mooners come to this beach and stay in Sala samui and The Boathouse hotel. It%26#39;s a beautiful quiet beach which is only 5 minutes by taxi from everywhere Its a stunning beach for eating on in the evening too as there%26#39;s a few nice restaurants to choose from and they all bring out candles and beds to relax and eat on, bay lights up too.

Id%26#39; do excursions like elephants and marine park separately as something could easily go wrong and instead just find a quiet spot on the beach at night to do the deeds. Good luck hope it all goes well mate.

From memory Five Islands Restaurant does a special romantic day for two... where you spend the day on a private boat snorkelling etc then head to the beach at the end of the day for a romantic dinner for two watching the sunset - perfect for a proposal. Just google their website for into

I have been to choeng mon beach, and i agree it is lovely. A nice place for a romantic meal.

HI there, I must admit the first place that sprung to my mind was the look out over the emerald lake as already suggested. This place is so romantic. Another romantic place where we went on our honeymoon was for a couples massage at Baan sabai spa near the golden buddah. We had a couples oil massage (the smell of the oil was divine) and we were in a Sala overlooking the beach and Koh panang-again another moment I will never forget. This was very quiet and so beautiful. Having been on elephants in the jungle in Chang mai the elephant camps on Samui don%26#39;t compare.

why do you say that?

I believe that on such occasions it is traditional to light a paper balloon fitted with a flame underneath and let it go to the heavens taking with it any bad luck that you may unwittingly have.

My wife and I did it recently on the beach on Samui on our wedding anniversary following a suggestion by one of the Thai beach vendors. We asked around a bit to confirm this before doing so.

We really enjoyed the moment - watching the lattern go straight up glowing in the night sky. Very romantic.

The paper latterns / balloons can be bought for @400 baht if you ask the beach vendors or at hotel receptions etc.
