cost of geting from kata noi to patong

Hi, Just wondering if anyone can tell me the cost of a tuk tuk or taxi from kat noi (katathani beach resort) into patong? Someone posted a message saying $12au each way which I thought sounded alot! I would like to stay at this hotel but am worried it is to far out to go into Patong everyday. Could someone shed some light?

Thanks, Hayley.

In the morning, when the tuktuks normally don%26#39;t have a lot of work, around 300 Baht.

Normal fare will be around 400 Baht.

In the night though after you have had a few drinks, it can become a lot more expensive.

But something else: why would you want to go in Patong every day? Kata has a much nicer beach, good bars, live music, same shopping just smaller numbers for sale, etc.

For real parting, I would recommend Patong, but a lot of people stay in Kata and have an excellent time here.

Hi Hayley, You certainly don%26#39;t need to go into Patong everyday from Katathani, unless you want to head to the bars everynight and then you may as well stay in Patong. Katathani is probably more for a relaxing holiday with some trips to Patong, but there are lots of shopping spots and restaurants in Kata to keep you amused some days. We spent 11 out of 16 nights in Karon/Kata area and we went into Patong 2-3 times to catch up with people staying there and shop. We did stay in Patong for a few nights prior to heading south, but Karon %26amp; Kata have plenty to offer too. Lee

Oops, forgot about the price, I think we paid 200 baht from south end of Karon (Marina Phuket) to Patong, but 300 at night coming back. we paid 100 from there to Kata beach south. Katathani is a bit further on, so I suspect you might pay between 300-400 baht.

Hi Hayley,

We just came back after staying at Kathatani, they have a shuttle bus leaving every night at 830 pm and come back at 1100pm and it cost 150 baht per person . Taxi will cost around 400 -450 each way.So if you have more than 2 people better to catch a taxi because you are not restricted to come back at a particular time.

Every day you can take shuttle for free to Phuket town or ask to be drop off at Central festival, we do this quite often in the afternoon. They go at 1pm and back at 4 pm, but be carefull when you arrive in Phuket town , a lot of taxi driver offer to take you around shopping centre and get you back by 4pm and cost 100 bath only but they take you instead to gem store and other places, We were taken by them once and never again. Whatever seems cheap seems to be dodgy. Hope this helps.

Cheers, TATIANA

Thanks for you help everyone thats great:) Just a question when you say a free shuttle to Phuket town where do your mean? Patong? How often does this go? Is it operated by the hotel?

Thanks again,

Hayley.

The free shuttle is operated by the hotel , it goes everyday as I say , go at 1pm and back at 4pm. This one does not go to Patong only to Phuket town where you can shop at Robinsons or Ocean plaza or you can ask to go to Central Festival which is a more upmarket shopping place. Hope this clarify your questions.

Cheers, TATIANA

When you come out of the KatThani walk out to the road and turn right on the wall on your right is a price list for the street taxis

Patong 300 baht

beach bar 150 baht

Kata -Karon 150 baht

you only have problems if there arnt many around if some one is too expensive just move on to the next one

Cheers scott
