Back to Ao Nang & Noppharat Thara Bay & BBQ'S

We enjoyed our first visit to Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara Bay so much that we decided to go back for 3 days, mainly just for a break and to do not much of anything thing at all. Plus it鈥檚 a good drive there and back and I wanted some photos of chicken town!!

So I have no info on nightlife (we were in bed by 8pm each night) and no shopping updates as I did not buy a single thing!!

These beaches were so pretty and quiet, no crowds, no jet skis, parasails or sun lounges on the beaches, no tailors or tuk tuks annoying you - heaven. Massages were cheap here, 200baht per hour, food and drinks were also good prices. It鈥檚 a great place for families (in the low season).

We loved the bungalows at Golden Beach Resort; they are very private, huge and nicely decorated, we will definitely stay there again next year for a few days. I took lots of photos of our bungalow and the grounds; they are on the link below.

Our most energetic day was going to Noppharat Thara Bay. When the tide is out you can walk over to one of the tiny islands, the water is just over ankle deep, absolutely fantastic. The beach is beautiful with a few restaurants and is only a couple of kilometers from Ao Nang beach. Well worth going to.

Then we headed over to Ban Laem Pho to the Gastropod Fossil (shell cemetery) - (it cost 200baht each to enter the Had Nopparat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park)

These well preserved mollusc fossils (or 75 million yr old shell cemetery) are exposed along the shoreline of Ban Laem Pho. There is a small area roped off that you can actually walk on them. The area is really beautiful with little picnic areas.

I鈥檝e posted another 50 photos from this trip along with a few food ones from Wangsai Seafood restaurant %26amp; the Luna Beach Bar at Nopparat Thara plus the drive back with another stop at Mai Kao Beach on Phuket Island. (Fantastic restaurants here).

So that鈥檚 the end of this little report, bit boring compared to all the others, all I have to do now is our fantastic Sunset Sailing trip with Captain Mark and our latest 2 day adventure with Richard %26amp; Megumi on one of the most scenic drives up past Ranong to Phra Khayang Cave, Punyaban Waterfall, the hot springs at Ranong.

Oh nearly forgot, the photos for Friday Night bbq鈥檚 7 %26amp; 8 are now posted. I鈥檓 calling number 7 Kids Night Out as there were more kiddies than adults and they all had loads of fun.

Our last bbq was Friday so it was sad saying goodbye to all the girls/boys at the Sunshine Bar. Mark came along so we stayed there with him till midnight, then he drove us home in his spotlessly clean flash looking Ute.

Just a shame I had to listen to him and Gary singing terrible songs on the way back!!!.

We are back home on Thursday and we are not ready to come home yet, we were very tempted to extend but family need us. The time has not gone fast at all and we feel like we have been here for a long, long, time (well I suppose we have) Only 10 more months (300 days) and we will be back for a couple more months 鈥?or longer.

Also a big thank you to everyone for all your great comments along the way, there鈥檚 going to be lots more new info to add to my WebPages (which by the way is a very unprofessional non money making site, just a cheap hobby that I love doing and is a good record for our family, friends and us to remember our many many overseas holidays.)

Candice - 2 more bags to the collection today haha - havent posted photos yet. Robinsons opened part of their store at Junceylon, lots of bargains and nice bags there.

Another nice report Cathy.

Ao Nang is such a beautiful spot, with so much wonderful scenery surrounding it.

We had Mr Sam take us from Swiss Palm Beach on 16/7 to Ao Nang Princeville.

My boys thought they saw your vehicle on the road somewhere that day (knowing them and their keen attention to cars, and having walked past yours several times at SPBeach)

They also said they saw you talking on a phone and said hello, when they went out to a bar to play pool!

There is no escaping for you, now you%26#39;re famous!!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your holiday

Nice to meet you

Terrible songs?????

Criticism from a person who wanted Leo Sayer and Elvis Presley??

At least we were singing proper going home in a ute songs.

Seeya,

Mark.

Hi Cathy,

I really love reading your reports, can you drive to Ranong from Patong Beach in a day trip?

Cheers,

Stewie.

Love reading your reviews Cathy, going to miss them when you%26#39;re back. Thanks for all your info, I%26#39;ve gain lots more info and the photos have been a highlight.

All the best and look forward to the last of your reports.

Kerri

Hi Stewie,

Its a long trip, just over 300kilometres one way, definately a 2 day trip as there is lots of good places in the area to spend time at, like at least a few hours at the hot springs and mineral springs, then theres swimming at beautiful waterfalls etc. Next trip we will probably stay an extra day.

Cathy

Yes Mark, I agree the songs you both were singing were definately UTE songs that most Aussie men would know haha

Cathy

Hiya Cathy,
